THE Grafton Redmen first grade side suffered their second loss in a row going down 35-29 against Coffs Snappers on Saturday at the Hay Street Rugby Fields South Grafton.

Snappers ran in seven tries to five applying the blow torch to Grafton’s right-side defence which looked vulnerable throughout the match.

Coffs raced to a 10-nil lead in slippery conditions before Grafton hit back with a converted try to Redmen five-eighth Kyle Hancock.

Snappers extended their lead to 20-7 and looked like running away with the game before the home side clicked into gear to narrow the margin to just one point.

Two controversial yellow cards saw Grafton Captain Ed McGrath and vice-captain Kyle Hancock both receive 10-minutes in the bin for innocuous infringements.

To Grafton’s credit they scored two tries with just thirteen on the field however, a late surge by Snappers saw them extend their lead to 35-24 before Grafton crossed with just seconds left on the clock.
