PORT Pirates took out the Mid North Coast Women’s 10s title but had to withstand a fast-finishing Grafton Redmen side who fought hard to the very end.
Pirates held on for a 26-15 victory in a high-quality game which ebbed and flowed throughout the contest.
Port raced to a 12-0 lead after 10-minutes through well-orchestrated set plays and looked like running away with the game.
However, Grafton refused to buckle highlighted by their scrambling defence and never-say-die attitude.
Pirates scored four tries to three in a game worthy of a grand final between two standout sides of the competition.
PORT PIRATES 26: (Tries Chanel Glasson, Emily Freeman, Maddy Melville, Madeline Major. Conversions: Emily Freeman, Sacha Everingham 2) GRAFTON REDMEN 15: (Tries Esther Barker, Yuri McHugh, Tamar McHugh)
