IT’S all about self-belief-that’s the message Grafton Redmen first grade coach Gary Powell echoed after his sides dramatic come-from-behind 26-22 win against Coffs Snappers on Saturday.
Powell was ecstatic after the game praising his sides never-say-die attitude.
“We were behind in the second half, and it would have been easy for us to lay down, but we toughed it out,” Powell said.
“Our defence was unbelievable which is what we’ve been working on, and it clicked today.
“It’s all about respecting our own tryline and the players are now believing in themselves.
“It’s taken three years, but they are now believing we have a team that can beat any side on our day.”
The win against Snappers has given the Redmen breathing space in the top four.
“It was an important win today especially in front of all the Old Boys,” Powell said.
“There’s massive pride within the club. We still made some silly errors today, but I feel we can even get better as a side.”
For Grafton Ed McGrath was back to his wrecking-ball best while in the backs scrum-half Sam Hewitt and winger Ross McKnight were both outstanding.
However, no one played a more important role than Redmen number-eight Senio Faalupega who was everywhere in both attack and defence.
