THE Grafton’s women’s side produced a dominant display against SCU Marlins on Saturday winning 37-5, proving they are the “real deal” this season.
Led superbly by inspirational captain Tamar McHugh, Grafton put the home side to the sword to record their first win of the season.
McHugh, orchestrated the victory with her sublime skills while sister Yuri caused plenty of headaches for the Marlin’s defence out wide.
The Grafton captain was ecstatic after the victory and put the win down to plenty of hard work during the week.
“We are definitely starting to gel as a team this season. We’ve been working hard on our ball skills and our set plays at training and we are now executing them on the field,” McHugh said after the game.
“The forwards paved the way which gave our backs room to move and made it a lot easier.”
Asked what it felt like to sing the Redmen victory song, McHugh couldn’t wipe the smile off her face.
“It felt amazing. Last year we didn’t get to sing it all that often, but finally getting to sing it after the win does us and the Club proud,” she said.
