Year’s ago, Women’s rugby filled-in a spot on game day.
An inferior quality to the main event.
Past avid rugby players and supporters would time their day to arrive at the ground for the main game. A chance for local’s to grab a beer or take a toilet break or watch the horses run around at Randwick.
Fast forward to today’s games and you start to realise Women’s rugby has come a long way.
Spiral -passes, late switches, ten phases, and bruising defence…thank God…No box-kicking
On Saturday our Women’s side entertained the crowd showcasing all their skills to win the Casino Ten’s Tournament.
Yuri Fuller was, without doubt, the player of the Tournament and not far behind was Esther Barker.
But it was the new-comers, Zahlee Kilduff, Emily Loy, Meliah McCann Rosa Suey and Sahara Powell who impressed over the Carnival
No longer is women’s rugby second-rate.
Women’s rugby is booming. And the Grafton Redmen Women’s side are worth watching.
